Trauma Surgery

  • All injuries to the musculoskeletal system
  • Emergency and intensive care treatment of severely and multiply injured patients   
  •  Dislocations and fracture-dislocations of all major and minor joints
  •  Tendon and ligament tears to the shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle joints
  •  All recent accidental injuries to the hand as well as Dupuytren's contracture, trigger finger, ganglions and arthrosis in the wrist area.
  •  Cruciate ligament reconstruction using arthroscopic techniques
  •  Arthroscopies and arthroscopic operations on the shoulder, knee, hip, hand and ankle joints

The areas of focus of the department are:

 

  •  Surgery for injuries and the consequences of injuries to the knee joint using arthroscopic techniques, including crucial ligament reconstruction 
  •  Shoulder surgery with minimally invasive treatment of cartilage and tendon injuries, including all open surgical techniques 
  • Alignment and stabilisation of spinal injuries, including vertebral replacement with titanium implants

Reconstructive surgery

 

  •  The area of focus here is the reconstruction of defects following accidents, including skin transplants and interpolation flaps.  
  • Treatment of healing problems in fractures, including callus distraction (bone lengthening after defective healing)   
  • Treatment of inflammatory and suppurating bone diseases

Orthopaedic Surgery

  •  Fitting of artificial knee, hip and shoulder joints (joint endoprosthetics) in cases of wear (arthritic) and bone fractures
  •  Replacement of artificial joints and fitting of special prosthetic devices
  •  Computer-assisted operation planning with navigation for artificial knee and hip joint implants
  •  Correction of misalignments (bow legs, knock knees, incorrect rotation)
  •  Soft tissue corrections and ligament attachment transpositions in patella disorders
  •  Operations for tennis elbow and compressed nerves at the elbow joint and lower arm 
  •  Corrections of congenital and acquired foot deformations (in particular hallux valgus, hammer toes and claw toes).

Cartilage surgery

  •  Cartilage damage in mostly young patients following accidents or because of circulation disorders (osteochondrosis dissecans) 
  • Stage-appropriate treatment in accordance with the guidelines of cartilage surgery, including cartilage-bone grafts as necessary
