In the Department of Kidney and Hypertension Diseases and Dialysis (Chief physician: Dr. med. Hans Pfleiderer) patients with acute and chronic kidney conditions are treated and, if necessary, provided with and prepared/trained for kidney replacement therapy (haemodialysis, haemodiafiltration, genius procedure, peritoneal dialysis).
The specialist staff in the department are certified by the German Hypertension League (DHL) to diagnose and treat hypertension diseases. Ultrasound-controlled kidney punctures are used in the diagnosis of kidney diseases. The department is also involved in preparing patients for kidney transplants and in the post-operative care of kidney transplant patients.
Immunological and rheumatological conditions also come with the remit of this department.
