ENT is a key component of our Medical Head Centre
General information: The ENT Department at the St. Barbara Klinik is the inpatient treatment centre for three ENT practices based in Hamm, Ahlen and Oelde (headquarters at Hamm) that have joined together to form a cross-regional joint practice. It is the largest department of its type in Hamm and surrounding area and offers an extremely differentiated spectrum of services that is unmatched in the state of Nordrhein-Westfalen. In addition to minor, medium and major ENT surgery (including tumour surgery), neck and head plastic surgery also form a major part of its activities. One focal area with far-reaching importance is thyroid surgery, which is performed in only a few other ENT departments in Germany. Operation numbers and quality in this area meet international standards and are evidence of the department's leading position in comparison to other neighbouring hospitals. This good reputation is based on the outstanding medical services that are supported by the excellent technical facilities of the department. A further feature is the close collaboration with related disciplines (e.g. ophthalmology and neurosurgery), which has enabled us to act as a reference point for problem cases requiring an interdisciplinary approach.
The close connections with non-hospital-based practices ensures an optimal relationship between inpatient treatment and outpatient aftercare, which is supported by an IT network linking the hospital and practices. The linked practices are QEP-certified for quality and management in medical practices.
